Suzie Bates has been appointed captain of the Southern Vipers ahead the KIA Women’s Super League.
New Zealand captain Bates will be playing in Southampton for the third consecutive year as she replaces England legend Charlotte Edwards in the role.
The 30 year-old has previously won Wisden’s Woman Cricketer of the Year and ICC Women’s T20i Cricketer of the Year in 2015.
The Kiwi has over 3500 ODI runs and over 2000 T20i runs, also taking 47 wickets along the way.
It all starts on Sunday 22 July for the Vipers as they travel to Guildford to take on the Surrey Stars.
