Children among five dead in stolen car crash

Three children are among five people who have died in a crash involving a stolen car in Leeds, West Yorkshire Police have said.

Officers were called to Stonegate Road in the Meanwood area of the city shortly before 10pm on Saturday and discovered a Renault Clio had crashed into a tree.

A 12-year-old boy, two 15-year-old boys, a 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old died in the collision.

Two 15-year-old boys have been taken into custody by police.

The families of those who died have been informed, the force said.

Stonegate Road is closed while the major collision enquiry team investigates the cause of the crash.
