We are back once again at the local legendary festival on the seafront. Glorious Victorious!
\n
\nThe site has had a change about this year! But the weather is shining, everyone's excited and the bands have already started behind me as I'm sat in press writing this!
\n
\nThis years headliners are Queens of The Stone Age on Friday, Vampire Weekend on the Saturday and the almighty Kings of Leon closing out the Sunday night on the Common Stage!
\n
\nFriday traditionally being the quieter day of the festival, but it did not disappoint!
\nHot wax opened the main stage for the weekend, to a rather rapturous round of applause, and rightly so! A band I hadn't heard of before, but would happily go see again!
\n
\nFor the last few years now, Victorious have been opening the whole day on the Friday rather than the original set up of just the Friday evening and it seems to be going well!
\nFriday night was closed by the absolute legends that are Queens of The Stone Age. Josh Homme and the guys absolutely blew everyone away with a set that encompassed 99% of the big hits. The amount of QOTSA t shirts and battle jackets which were seen on the Friday gave a definite hint as to who people were there to see!
\n
\nIf you've not been to Victorious before, it comprises of a site which spans a large proportion of the Southsea Seafront. With stages named after what they're used for usually! For example we have the main stage which is affectionately known as "The Common Stage" after Southsea Common and the second stage which is known as "The Castle Stage", as it's on the field adjacent to Southsea Castle, which during the festival becomes known as "Henry's House" and is home to DJs and party vibes!
\n
\nVictorious prides itself on being a family friendly festivals and this is evident every year through their family area in the festival site itself. Although I don't have children myself, friends and family who visit with theirs in tow, all rave about how good it is. The fact that 99% of the activities are included in the price and that the children are offered items such as free ice lollies, fruit and smoothies! Alongside the performances on stage from Princesses and roaming interactions with characters such as Bluey!

\nThe main stage headline titans continued over the weekend with Vampire Weekend finishing off the Saturday night party! Smashing out hits like A Punk and giving a nod to the recently passed Prince of Darkness, by covering the classic hit "Crazy Train".
\n
\nSunday Night was the finale of the festival with Megastars Kings of Leon closing out the main stage to one of the biggest crowds I've ever seen at Victorious Festival!
\nEveryone who has been talking about the festival, has been saying how excited they are for this headline set and they were right to be.
\nA blistering set of hits which started with Supersoaker, straight into The Bucket and a raucous rendition of Sex on Fire, closing the show. Accompanied by deafeningly loud sing along from the crowd!
\n
\nAlthough we acknowledge some controversy this years with the situation that arose during the Mary Whallopers set over the weekend, we must recognise what a triumph Victorious festival truly is. Hailing from the original small scale event in the Historic Dockyard, to the large scale weekend event which it now encompasses, Victorious has become a local and national staple. It maintains the roots from which it came, employing so many local people and encouraging people from all over the area to visit. But also stands up amongst the large festivals countywide with a stellar line up every year and great set up!
\nI cannot wait to see what they have in store for next year, as the festival grows and develops year on year!

Another glorious weekend of metal in a field is done for the year! The annual August pilgrimage to Derbyshire is done! <\/p>\n\n

As always, Bloodstock pulled it out the bag with the line up this year! With Trivium, Machine Head and Gojira headlining the main stage across the weekend alongside incredible bands on the rest of the line up! <\/p>\n\n

Let's sum up some of the best bands of the weekend as well as chatting about the big 3 mainstage headliners! <\/p>\n\n

Friday was headlined by the heavyweight transatlantic powerhouse that is Trivium! <\/p>\n\n

Having just come off the Poisoned Ascendancy tour in May 2025, it was great to see them still on absolutely top form. <\/p>\n\n

Playing a set list of songs that not only spanned their career, they also did fantastic Black Sabbath and Metallica covers! Being joined by Robb Flynn of Machine head for their roaring rendition of "Symptom of the Universe" and then guest spots throughout their set from III from Sleep Token, Ihsan from Emperor and Josh from Malevolence! <\/p>\n\n

Finishing out their set with "The sin and the sentence", amongst a flurry of fireworks. They absolutely set the tone for the rest of the headline bands over the weekend! <\/p>\n\n

Having seen Trivium quite a few times in various settings over the years, I truly believe this is up there as one of their strongest performances and look forward to seeing them again in the future! <\/p>\n\n

My favourite non headline band of Friday who I highly recommend you check out is Compounds! Simon saw these guys going through the heats of metal to the masses this year, and was who got me onto them! <\/p>\n\n

They are an absolutely ferocious group who hail from down South, and are absolutely incredible live! <\/p>\n\n

If you don't know them yet, get to know them! <\/p>\n\n

My favourite song of theirs is "Survive or Die" and I highly recommend you check them out! <\/p>\n\n

Saturday rolled round and it was Machine Head day! <\/p>\n\n

I had been very excited for this headline slot but also for Static X! A band who had evaded me for years! Having had tickets for the tour that was cancelled when Wayne tragically passed away, I had been keen to see them back in the UK! <\/p>\n\n

Machine Head opened with one of my absolute favourite songs of all time - Imperium! <\/p>\n\n

A song from the album "Through the Ashes of Empires", which has always been special to me and a song that will always hold a substantial amount of nostalgia for me! <\/p>\n\n

First time I saw Machine Head was on this tour, and I have very fond memories of it being my first pit too! <\/p>\n\n

A polished set from these absolute metal legends, which included an incredibly touching tribute to their publicist Michelle, who tragically passed away and was a huge part of the family at Bloodstock. <\/p>\n\n

A fantastic set, with a personal favourite being the throwing of beer to Banana man! What a hero! <\/p>\n\n

My favourite non headline band of Saturday, this could've gone to quite a few bands if I'm honest! But I'm gonna stick to my roots here and say Creeper!<\/p>\n\n

Suffice to say, I was surprised when they got announced on the line up and was excited to see what they would bring to the Bloodstock main stage! <\/p>\n\n

Creeper are absolute local heroes for me. Having played at small local venues like The Joiners in Southampton not that long ago, to now playing to huge crowds on the main stage at Bloodstock! It's great to see them getting the recognition they deserve, and the new album is out on Halloween! It's titled "Sanguivore II - Mistress of Death". <\/p>\n\n

Special mention absolutely has to go to Static X though! Headlining the Sophie Lancaster Tent and celebrating 25 years of the seminal album "Wisconsin Death Trip" made for an unbelievable show! <\/p>\n\n

These guys have been a band I've wanted to see for SO many years, and their music has been a soundtrack for my life since I was 15 years old! Suffice to say.... They did not disappoint! <\/p>\n\n

An electric show full of fun, headed up by Xer0, the show was full of energy and hit most of the songs that I have waited so long to hear! <\/p>\n\n

I am crossing everything that someday soon, they do a proper UK tour! Preferably the US tour that they're doing with Mudvayne! <\/p>\n\n

If you're reading this, we would LOVE to have that tour in the UK and Europe! Pretty please! <\/p>\n\n

Sunday rolled round way too fast as it always does festival weekends and it's Gojira headlining day! <\/p>\n\n

The Sunday of a festival is always a sad feeling, cause we know that the weekend of fun is nearly done for another year! <\/p>\n\n

But at least when we are at Bloodstock we know we have a great Sunday line up to look forward to! <\/p>\n\n

The festival was closed this year by French metal royalty Gojira! <\/p>\n\n

This is the band's second time headlining Bloodstock and as always, they have absolutely bought their all! Having previously headlined in 2018, they definitely bought the show they are very known for! <\/p>\n\n

A visual show of fire, Pyro and fun alongside their majestic songs and sense of humour shining through! <\/p>\n\n

A great performance from the French legends! <\/p>\n\n

Final special mention goes to a band who prior to Bloodstock on Sunday... I didn't know much about! But after catching their set by accident... I am absolutely obsessed! <\/p>\n\n

I am talking about the Folk Metal Germans known as Feuerschwanz! <\/p>\n\n

Hearing these guys was by pure accident on a mission across the field, and they quite literally stopped me in my tracks! <\/p>\n\n

Hailing from Bavaria in Germany, and having never played a UK show before. This was their first ever UK performance and they absolutely blew everyone away! Myself included! <\/p>\n\n

There was something very special about Medieval inspired German Metal! <\/p>\n\n

Overall, Bloodstock will always hold a very special place in my heart being the first festival I'd ever been to in the UK! <\/p>\n\n

Incredibly this is Eric's 5th song to reach number one on the SCMC, breaking the record for the most number ones by a singular artist! <\/p>\n\n

Eric's songs are a real blend of indie and soft rock reimaged into an alternative-pop sound.<\/p>\n\n

The pure versatility of his music is inspired by artists such as KT Tunstall, Swedish House Mafia and Feeder.<\/p>\n\n

His lyrics are intriguing and gripping; mixed with his heartfelt vocals you can't stop listening.<\/p>\n\n

‘Moments’ released in March 2025, is a song that means a lot to Eric and this really comes over when listening.<\/p>\n\n

The song is an ode to moments gone by, pulling on the feeling of reminiscing times and people you used to know.<\/p>\n\n

Holding on to those beautiful, funny, upsetting and exciting memories you now hold with you.<\/p>\n\n

I think that's something most of you reading will be able to relate to I know I can and it's something that Eric captures beautifully in this song.<\/p>\n\n

His Music started in 2016 and his love for making music grew, sparking his first single ‘Hold My Breath’ in 2018 followed by the release of his debut album in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n

The award-winning artist has had international success and opportunities to perform in large festivals around the country.<\/p>\n\n

You can find Eric's music on all major listening platforms.<\/p>\n\n

I'm certain we will be seeing and hearing much more from Eric in the future and we at Voice FM can't wait to see what he does next!<\/p>\n\n

The Southampton indie rock band Red light Spies, have had huge support and made it to the top spot on the SCMC<\/a> with there song ‘Avalanche’ after only 2 weeks in the chart!<\/p>\n\n

This high energy Rock band have made there mark with the song ‘Avalanche’ from their EP ‘INFARED’ that was released not that long ago on 13 January 2025.<\/p>\n\n

The band, formed in a dimly lit garage tucked away in the middle of Southampton, originally bonded by there mutual love of dynamic riffs, introspective lyrics, and heart-pounding beats.<\/p>\n\n

This comes over brilliantly in there music which conveys a raw grittiness that makes you want to hear more.<\/p>\n\n

The band have said this incredibly unique and addictive sound has huge influences from bands such as the Artic Monkeys, Queens of the stone age, Linkin Park and the stone roses.<\/p>\n\n

The intensity of these inspirations seeps into there music creating a experience of genre bending soundscapes, mixed with psychedelic beats creating a nostalgic and freshly modern sound.<\/p>\n\n

This is a band i know we have fallen in love with and we hope you all do too.<\/p>\n\n

The 4 piece pop-punk bank from Bournemouth have Flown to number one on the South Coast Music chart after receiving tremendous support with their song ‘FFS I'm in love’.<\/p>\n\n

This is not their first big hit on the SCMC already having many appearances in the top ten and hitting number one with their second single ‘Sh*t Tattoos’ 2 years ago in 2023.<\/p>\n\n

This exciting Band have said they draw inspiration from bands such as Waterparks, with there sound consisting of catchy harmony's, heavy guitar driven instrumentals and heart felt lyrics. <\/p>\n\n

A unique aspect to the band is there release of ‘Sugar free’ versions to there music which fit an alternative vibe to the original singles which is an incredibly unique angle. <\/p>\n\n

After a ten month break from releases this catchy song has had overwhelming reception and support. <\/p>\n\n

Their highly anticipated song was released on the 14th of February to purposefully align with valentines day due to the songs meaning.<\/p>\n\n

FFS I'm in love is a incredible twist on a cheesy love song with the band saying the song is about ‘the times you said you weren't going to fall for someone and ended up doing so anyway’.<\/p>\n\n

With such a relatable song with a amazing sound its no wonder this band have skyrocketed to the top. <\/p>\n\n

Having performed in many locations within London, Southampton and Birmingham, I'm sure well see much more of them this year and I for one cant wait!<\/p>\n\n

Having already released a plethora of songs over the last few years Sam is a upcoming artist in the industry.<\/p>\n\n

As a musician having performed on stages all over the UK and already being featured on newspapers and radio, this is a determined young man ready to make a impression.<\/p>\n\n

The song ‘just a little’ released on the 7th of February has had huge appeal with it raw, personal and heartfelt message.<\/p>\n\n

Sam has said he “wanted<\/i> to create something that felt vulnerable, yet comforting, that also feels personal.” and <\/i>this feel good refreshing hit does just that.<\/p>\n\n

With Such a beautiful message we can all relate to, its clear that this is a musician is only going up. <\/p>\n\n

Lizzy Beth from Fareham is an inspiring dedicated Country singer with 3 original tracks that have trailblazed her career.<\/p>\n\n

With her tracks played on upload festival, BBC radio (BBC introducing) and now Southampton Voice FM her hard work is paying off.<\/p>\n\n

Inspired by singers such as Ashley McBryde and Kezia Gill, her country sound is described as ‘country with a pop twist’. <\/p>\n\n

The song released at the start of January and has gained traction over the weeks now hitting South Coast Music Charts<\/a> number one spot.<\/p>\n\n

Lizzy Beth recounts the creation of Light through the leaves saying ‘There were tears, mainly happy ones of disbelief at the dreams that were realised that day’.<\/p>\n\n

July 2024 Lizzy and Hannah came together to record at ‘chart house studios’<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

However Lizzy had written the song a year prior in 2023 in the audience of the ‘Country on the coast festival<\/a>’ saying at the time she was ‘dreaming of one day being amongst the artists performing’.<\/p>\n\n

Those dreams have come true as she is due to perform at the 2025 Country on the coast festival<\/a> later this Year.<\/p>\n\n
