It’s hard to believe that Olly Murs is celebrating his 10th year as an artist this year, a whole decade in the music business and he’s still as loved now as he was then.
I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who has anything but nice words to say about the cheeky Essex chap who first shot to fame with an incredible performance of Stevie Wonders ‘Superstition’ on X Factor and made trilby hats fashionable again.
In the last 10 years Olly has released 6 Albums, had 4 Number 1 singles and sold over 10 million records making him one of the UKs biggest solo artists.
This tour is a celebration of that decade and brings together some of his biggest hits as well as some surprise covers and a few songs from his latest album ‘You Know I Know’
Olly is a showman.
He has the most energy I have ever seen in a performer, he is near on impossible to take photos of without a professional camera as he is never still. Through the entire nearly 2 hour performance he did not stop. Even when he was talking to the crowd and telling some wonderful stories and anecdotes, he was still moving!
There’s something about Olly that just drags you in when you watch, you can’t keep your eyes off him. He is so entertaining, he’s funny, cheeky and he can really dance. He reminds me a lot of Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams.
As a singer he improves year on year and last nights rendition of the very song that started it all ‘Superstition’ was a perfect showcase for that.
It was a show full of nostalgia and I loved the staging, showing all the old videos of Olly, a digital photo album of him through the years and clips of his audition, it was a proper trip down memory lane.
I’ve seen Olly a few times over the years and although this setlist was not one of his best I really loved the show. I was laughing and dancing one of the best nights out I’ve had in a while.
If you haven’t had the chance to see an Olly show I suggest you buy a ticket immediately, you won’t regret it!
