GPs in Wales ‘struggling to access patient data’

Doctors are reportedly struggling to access patient records following a technical issue affecting NHS data centres in Wales.

The devolved Welsh administration confirmed the technical fault affecting two data centres on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Welsh government said an investigation has been launched by the NHS Wales Informatics Service and is being dealt with as a priority.

The National Cyber Security Centre told Sky News the issue was caused by a technical issue and is not connected to a cyberattack.

Wales’ Department of Health and Social Services tweeted: “There is currently a technical issue affecting two NHS Wales Data Centres. This is under investigation by the NHS Wales Informatics Service and is being dealt with as a priority.”
