Hampshire’s new signing Sam Northeast believes his move to Hampshire can help his push for a place in the England team.
Northeast was brought in from Kent at the weekend and he decided to move on from his home county after being replaced by Sam Billings as captain.
The opening batsman will replace Australian George Bailey in the Hampshire batting line up.
The 28 year old has signed on a four year contract and there were questions being asked about whether he should be considered for a call up to the national side.
Northeast has certainlty staked his claim in recent seasons after passing 8,500 first-class career runs in 2017 and claimed 1,000 first class runs for the third successive season.
The England schoolboy believes a move to Division One will help his chances of playing international cricket.
