Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) will celebrate the first birthday of its city centre theatre, NST City, with a giant community birthday party of family activities on 16 February.
The First Birthday Party will run from 11:30am – 1:30pm with a street party, inviting up to 300 people from communities across Southampton, to take part in large scale party games. There will also be behind the scenes tours of the theatre and a live dance performance created by NST’s resident dance theatre company ZoieLogic Dance Theatre.
Inside NST City, NST will have a matinee and evening performance of their critically acclaimed smash hit show The Shadow Factory by Howard Brenton which tells the local true story from the Second World War of how Southampton came together to build the Spitfire after the Supermarine factory at Woolston was destroyed in a 1940 bombing raid.
Sam Hodges, Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres said, “A year has gone past in a flash. Four world premieres. Dance, circus, music and film for the first time ever. The best-selling show in NST history. And most importantly, new friends and new neighbours who are making our new building feel like a home. Come and celebrate with us ”
NST City opened officially on 16 February 2018 and has welcomed over 62000 people through its doors since opening and has launched four world premieres including the critically acclaimed SS Mendi Dancing the Death Drill and Billionaire Boy The Musical. The venue includes a flexible 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and workshop spaces and café bar.
