Nuffield Southampton Theatres presents a Heritage Open Days event. A free family event celebrating Woolston’s Spitfire heritage.
Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) will host a free event, sponsored by Crest Nicholson, celebrating Woolston’s Spitfire heritage from 11am – 4pm at Centenary Quay on 9 September 2017, as part of Southampton’s Heritage Open Days and in line with the opening production in NST’s brand new venue, NST City.
The event, Out of the Shadows, promises to shine a light on Woolston’s proud Spitfire heritage with street theatre performances, an exhibition of heritage materials including photographs, diaries, maps and film and a guided tour of the key heritage sites in Woolston. Plus, live music from three-part vocal harmony trio The Spitfire Sisters.
Children and adults alike will also have the opportunity to create a range of model Spitfires, dress up and take their photograph with a large Spitfire cut out and play traditional games.
Food and drink will be provided by popular coffee and cocktail chain Mettricks Woolston Waterside.
Ample free parking is available at Centenary Quay. This event can also be accessed by the Free to Ride Vintage bus route W connecting Bugle Street, SS Shieldhall and Woolston, running hourly from 11am.
The Southampton Heritage Open Days are a series of free events spanning various locations around Southampton on 9-10 September 2017, as part of the national Heritage Open Days event, including heritage fayres, tram and Dunkirk little ships workshops, lawn bowls and more.
