Audition Opportunities for Talented Local Young People

Registration for auditions to Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios Summer Youth Projects are now open for talented young people aged 11-19.

Mayflower Theatre will be producing the musical, Summer Holiday based upon the iconic Cliff Richard film. MAST Mayflower Studios will be staging a new production of the play Grimm Tales. Auditions will take place on 9 May and applications need to be in by 25 April.

In previous years, Mayflower Theatre has put on productions of Oliver!, Bugsy Malone, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls, and The Pirates of Penzance with over 1,300 young people taking part and seen by a total audience of over 10,000. This year the opportunity is doubled with two offerings so young people can audition to take part in either or both projects over the school summer holidays.

Young people can join our ensemble of master storytellers to tell tales both gorgeous and gruesome this summer – with witches, trolls and talking frogs, dresses as bright as the sun and magical swords. Grimm Tales retold by master-storyteller Philip Pullman, is full of familiar characters; Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel - and some unexpected ones too. This stage version by Philip Wilson will be rehearsed and performed at MAST Mayflower Studios from 1 - 14 August.

In a time when we all need some good clean fun, there will be a mad-cap journey through Europe on a London Omnibus when Summer Holiday will be rehearsed and performed at Mayflower Theatre from 15 – 28 August. The show will feature a brilliant score including In the Country, Bachelor Boy, Living Doll, The Young Ones, and of course Summer Holiday.
