#presenterprofile - Kate Mardon

Hey, I’m Kate Mardon, a 20-year-old (soon to be graduate of Media and Communications from the University of Winchester). I am excited to be a recent addition to the Voice FM family.

I present Tuesdays ‘Your Choice on Voice’ and am also a social media executive for Voice FM.

During 2020 when my first radio love, student radio was no longer available to me I applied to join Voice FM in November 2020 and just like student radio I have loved getting stuck in with everything Voice has to offer ever since.

Aside from my degree in my first year of university I joined my student radio station Sound Radio sparking my interest in radio. Throughout my third year of university, I have also volunteered with Winchester Hub as a Communications Officer, recently winning ‘Creative Volunteering Champion’ at the Winchester Volunteering and Community Champion awards leading to me supporting Voice FM on their social media team.

On the side I am also engaged with radio to an extent through my podcast ‘Student Radio Stories’. This has allowed me to reflect on my time in student radio from over the past three years and interview lots of different people with a background in student radio. Some of my proudest achievements since starting this podcast has been getting to talk to some recognisable names in the radio industry for example; Will Manning and Aimee Vivian from Capital Radio, Ben Burrell from Absolute Radio and Lucy Ambache from BBC Radio Solent.

When I'm not on the radio you can find me curled up with a book and staying active.

You can tune into me on Voice FM every Tuesday from 12 till 2.
