Review: Beauty and The Beast – New Theatre Royal Portsmouth

Beauty and The Beast has risen back to popularity after Disney’s remake of the classic 1991 film was released earlier this year. Now the story has come to the stage once again at The New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth.

Forget everything you know about the story of Beauty and The Beast as this production puts a new spin on the classic tale. Based in Portsmouth, this adaptation contains a lot of local references from around the city and being in Portsmouth you can expect the odd Southampton joke!

Leaving Portsmouth, the cast travel through the ‘Hampshire Forest’ to search for fame in London. The storyline is quite removed from the version you may know; however don’t let that put you off! This is a great production brilliantly put together with a talented cast, great costumes and some catchy musical numbers.

With great audience interaction, this is a perfect show to take the family to over the Christmas period. There are plenty of jokes that had the audience laughing the whole way through; this show is guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit and make you smile!

Beauty and The Beast is on from now until 31st December 2017, you can buy your tickets online at
