Three prisoners have been charged with the murder of an inmate who was stabbed to death at Wormwood Scrubs.
Khader Saleh, 25, died at the category B jail in west London on Wednesday after he was found in another prisoner’s cell with multiple stab wounds.
The Metropolitan Police said Ahmed Khyre, 21, Kalif Dibbassey, 21, and Enton Marku, 20, have been charged with the murder.
The three men will appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
A 23-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation.
Saleh’s death came after a report by the prison’s Independent Monitoring Board described it as “a dangerous environment for staff and prisoners alike, with multiple violent incidents on most days”.
The report, published last November, said that, despite “serious efforts”, the prison remained a “dangerous place”, with 40-50 violent incidents in a typical month.
At the time the report was written, the prison was “consistently” short of staff, it added.
It also said that Carillion, the organisation contracted for maintenance services to the prison, was “not able to adequately maintain the fabric of the prison”.
