Public File
Voice FM is a volunteer-run community radio station serving Southampton and the surrounding areas. We broadcast 24/7 on 103.9 FM, DAB, online, and via most smart devices. Like all UK radio stations, we have obligations around music and local content, which are outlined in this Public File. Feedback can be sent to us here or directly to Ofcom.
Programme Schedule and Content
Our schedule varies daily and can be viewed here. Programme details are available on the Shows page. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, offering programmes across a wide range of genres including Pop, Rock, Dance, Indie, Urban, and Soul.
Most programmes are produced live from our Southampton studio. Some broadcasts may be automated, pre-recorded, or delivered from offsite locations, particularly overnight. Catch-up content is available for most shows for up to two weeks via our On Demand page.
Music Playlist
Our core playlist is updated weekly and can be viewed here. In addition, our South Coast Music Chart features a voted-for chart list of local music tracks that is published following the Sunday evening show.
Local Content and Community Engagement
Voice FM supports the local music scene, regularly featuring emerging and home-grown artists. We collaborate with local businesses, musicians, community organisations, healthcare providers, and charities to produce content, including interviews and on-air features.
Volunteers are recruited through our website and receive training from experienced volunteers and industry professionals. Community members also contribute to station management and operations.
Event Support
We offer a platform for free event promotion on our website for audiences and business partners. Submissions are reviewed to ensure professional standards and safety compliance. Listings may also request on-air promotion or event attendance, which may incur a fee.
News and Information
National news, entertainment, and sports bulletins are provided by Radio News Hub, over which we have no editorial control. Bulletins air hourly but may be omitted during music mixes or live programmes. Locally, our volunteers and guest contributors independently research and present regional news on-air and online. Traffic and travel updates are provided during Breakfast and Drivetime, Monday to Friday. Community members can submit news stories or press releases via our website.
