Voice FM Launches 20k Studio Fund Raising Drive

The studios needs to be refreshed!

With Voice FM reaching 15 years of broadcasting to Southampton in 2026 the equipment in their two studios needs to be refreshed.

They are launching a £20k fundraising drive for new access-for-all studio desks, mixers, and the ability to make podcasting for the community and local businesses as easy as possible.

You can make a donation for as little as £10 here

“The funny thing is,” said station manager Xan Phillips, “some of our main equipment is twice as old as the station.”

“Community radio is always happy to use second hand gear, in fact we recently received very kind donations of computers, monitors, professional mic stand and microphone,” he continued, “but we can’t maintain 30 year old equipment, and our 60 volunteers deserve something that is closer to industry standard.”

To officially launch the campaign Xan will be presenting a 24hr radiothon from 7pm Thursday 5th February featuring guests, musicians and special giveaways.

On the shopping list

  • New mixing desks, microphones and stands
  • Smaller, movable, professional studio tables so that wheelchair access is easy and comfortable.
  • The ability to record video podcasts and live studio guests
  • Improve the quality of the FM and DAB signal and make the backroom system more robust.
  • Improve the sound deadening in the studios.
  • Give the walls, carpets and office furniture a refresh.
