Southampton’s Mayflower Studios will become a vibrant hub of connection, inspiration and performance on Saturday 8 November as ZoieLogic Dance Theatre’s The Big Movement LIVE – a heartfelt and unflinching event centred on men’s mental health, told through dance, storytelling and immersive art – takes over the space for one night only.
The Big Movement LIVE isn’t a usual conversation, it’s a beautiful collision of fun, creativity and dance, designed to break silence, challenge stigma and spark dialogue in a space in which men are valued, heard and seen.
The Mayflower Studios foyer and café will transform into an interactive experience, filled with installations and information, giving attendees space to reflect and connect. The vibrant performance by an all-male cast - many of whom had never danced before - will be a journey through masculine identity, men’s mental health, and resilience. The production comprises choreography, narrative and multimedia, immersing audiences in the lived realities of men whose stories often go unspoken.
ZoieLogic Dance Theatre CEO and Founder, Zoie Golding MBE says, “With our The Big Movement programme, we want to bring men’s mental health into the spotlight in ways that are honest, visceral, and connecting. If even one man leaves tonight feeling less alone, we’ve succeeded. This is more than theatre. It’s a call to arms: to open up, to lean in, to recognise that the weights we carry aren’t ours alone.
“The Big Movement is founded on the belief that movement - whether physical, emotional or social - is not just therapeutic, but transformative. By presenting these stories in a creative, communal environment, ZoieLogic aims to cultivate a culture of openness in which men (and those who care for them) feel empowered to talk more freely.”
The event embraces all who identify as male, including nonbinary people who experience varying masculine expressions of identity.
