The Citroen Ami and Your Green Voice presenter Xan Phillips
It was while crossing Southampton’s Northam Bridge that the Citreon Ami first came into my life.
There hadn’t been a car like it and I was instantly hooked.
It reminded me of a maintenance droid from Star Wars, but with even more personality, it made me smile.
As the presenter of ‘Your Green Voice’ the Citreon Ami looked like an ideal solution to driving around the city, but could it satisfy my needs? More needed to be known!
Due to the many traffic lights in Southampton I was able to catch up with the driver and have a quick chat about the car and where it came from.
It wasn’t as easy as you’d imagine.
The Ami is left hand drive and the windows half-open like the classic 2CV, making voice and eye contact at a red light not as simple as usual (not that I do this often).
So the next destination was Wilmoths in Southampton and to book a test drive and record my first impressions of nipping around town in a Citroen Ami.
