Spina Bifida is still a relatively not talked about disability, with a lack of information and still with a stigma attached to it.
Many parents who get a diagnosis during pregnancy are still being encouraged to terminate due to a lack of understanding.
This year for Spina Bifida awareness week Punk on the Rocks will be wearing their clothes back to front for their show to raise a bit of awareness for the condition that Jodie lives with.
Please join us in doing something backwards and tag us and @shineukcharity in your photos so we can give them a share!
The phrase "Back to Front" refers to bringing the back (representing the spine and the condition of spina bifida) to the front of people's minds. It's an initiative used by Shine to raise awareness about spina bifida and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.
And you can do so in many ways. Whether at school, in the workplace, in your community, or at home, anyone can get involved and bring the back to the front of people’s minds.
Embrace the concept by wearing your clothes back to front, serve dessert before dinner, or even walk or wheel in reverse. By going Back to Front for Shine, you’ll help raise vital funds so we can continue to provide specialist advice and support services to those affected by spina bifida.
Many of Shine’s services are entirely funded by the generosity of the general public, and we are genuinely grateful for any contribution you can extend.
