UK Elite Sports Group July 2023 Tour Participants Receive Certificates from The Lord Mayor of Southampton

Hampshire based company UK Elite Sports Group (UKESG) successfully concluded its Educational & Sports tour programme recently. 20 young students of Manav Rachna International School’s from India joined the tour in the UK for 8 days filled with excitement, learning to gain invaluable life and enriching experiences to their educational journey. 

The certificate awarding ceremony of the tour was held at the historic and prestigious Lord Mayor’s Parlour in Southampton. The Lord Mayor Councilor Valerie Laurent graced the occasion as the guest of honor and all participants had the privilege of receiving their certificates from her.

While addressing the occasion UKESG CEO, Chris Vertannes noted the key learning outcomes the students gained during the initial days of the tour as the importance of teamwork, teambuilding, willingness to challenge ones ‘self, developing strategy, sticking to the plan, thinking outside the box and good decision making.

He further went on to say, “as young students of today, you are the leaders of tomorrow. You could be a professional sportsman, an entrepreneur or pursue any other profession, what is most important is being respectful of others and being good citizens”.

The main takeaways from the address by UKESG COO Lakbir Singh, he said “Today’s special ceremony reflects UKESG’s India journey which started over 4 years ago and has seen our group of companies foster new relationships with a number of leading academic institutions, government agencies,  sporting partners and stakeholders locally and globally here in the UK and India”.

In addition all other strategic partners of UKESG present at the event said ‘the willingness to make a positive difference in the society by partnering with like-minded people and organisations is what brings us together with UKESG’.

The students got to visit the Sea City Museum in Southampton and the Solent University’s Sports Complex soon after the certificate awarding ceremony. The Sea City Museum narrates the story of the famous Titanic Ship through artifacts, historic events and multi-visuals.

This tour gave students a peek into the rich history of Southampton, the tragic story of Titanic through documentaries from people who survived the event and photos of real-life incidents.

The visit to Solent University’s spark campus, the sports complex and guest lecture led by Dr. Dominic Cunliffe, Head of Department, Sports & Health was very exciting for the students as it provided them with valuable insights into UK higher education and the science behind sports and how it needs to be perfected through real world learning that are vital.

The visit included a tour to the lecture halls, teaching gym where the techniques of body training and weightlifting are taught, and the sports therapy suite to learn how sports related injuries are treated and taken care of properly.

The customised 8-day tour included sports coaching sessions with UKESG elite coaches and engaging in specialist training activities, participating in multi-activities during the residential training at PAAC, visit to the London Eye and sightseeing of Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Gun Wharf Quays, Portsmouth South Sea Beach, West Quay Shopping Centre, Sea City Museum and Southampton Solent University for an educational tour. 

The UKESG July 2023 Sports and Education Tour Programme are launched in collaboration with Southampton City Council, India Business Group (IBG), Peter Ashley Activity Center, Decathlon, Solent University, Havant & South Downs College, and Voice FM.
