Exploring 'Colourism': A Conversation with Exhibition Curator Don John

Colourism Exhibition in Southampton

How young black people identify themselves based on skin complexion

In this episode, curator Don John introduces the 'Colorism' exhibition, part of Black History Month South in Southampton, which explores how young black people identify themselves based on skin complexion.

He tells Voice FM presenter Xan Phillips that the exhibition aims to spark conversations about the historical and present-day judgments associated with skin colour, originating from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Through compelling photography, the exhibition challenges perceptions and encourages dialogue about complexion and identity.
