All of Southampton’s libraries are again registered as warm spaces
Together with Library teams across the city and the ‘Friends of Library’ groups, the Warm Welcome initiative returned from Monday 3 November.
All of Southampton’s libraries are again registered as warm spaces as part of the wider, nationwide initiative by providing warm, safe spaces and activities in local communities.
This winter, libraries will host over 300 activities aimed at adults, families and children. During each activity there will also be an opportunity to enjoy a free hot drink and snack. Activities on offer vary from arts and crafts, early years activities, reading groups, and games clubs - open to a range of ages with no pre-booking.

Councillor Alex Winning, Leader of Southampton City Council said:
“I am delighted to see the return of The Warm Welcome initiative. It has proven to help people in Southampton and beyond, year after year. The winter months can be a struggle for many, and this initiative is great for tackling loneliness and providing comfort. Our welcoming Libraries teams and volunteers work hard to ensure that our libraries are warm, safe spaces with plenty to do for people of all ages. They can also help people navigate the various support available during the winter period. Support will vary from finding jobs, maintaining healthy homes and tech support. Activities will include games and reading clubs as well as arts and crafts sessions and so much more. There is something for everyone and I urge everyone to get involved. ”
