Local music triumphs and Community Radio Awards
Voice FM’s South Coast Music Show has won bronze at the 2026 Community Radio Awards.
On Saturday 24th October, the team of Zinnia Eve, Nathan Randle and Kristin Collett travelled from Southampton to Birmingham for the awards ceremony which celebrates the work of volunteers and stations in community radio across the UK.
The panel of industry judges awarded the South Coast Music Show the bronze award in the category of Specialist Music Show of the Year.
"We're really proud of them," said Station manager Xan Phillips. "They dedicate a lot of time to helping musicians from the south coast get more recognition, so it is great that the judges recognised their hard work."
"Unlike other radio stations Voice FM gives two songs per hour in the daytime to music that is created locally, and voted for by the public. That is what community radio is all about, helping others be heard and championed."
Every Sunday at 4pm, the South Coast Music Show plays brand new music from a variety of local artists, and listeners vote for their favourites in the South Coast Music Chart.
Here’s how the team reacted:
“Being recognised for the work we do for the south coast music scene on a national level was really great!" Zinnia Eve said. "“It was amazing to meet other community radio presenters like us, all passionate about our communities we serve.”
Nathan Randle said: “We are so proud to have won bronze for Specialist Music Show of the Year, and we met so many great people from across the country who all share our love of community radio.
“We're really pleased that the judges recognised us for the work we do to bring a wide range of great new music from the south coast to the radio throughout the year, and the supportive community of artists and listeners we've built through the show."
“We are very grateful to Voice FM for believing in us and continuing to give us the platform to showcase new local music on the radio every week."
“And we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us through listening to the show and voting in our chart, and to the amazing singers, bands and producers from the south coast for sending us their music, joining us in the studio and performing on stage at our live events! We couldn't have done it without you!”
Listen to the South Coast Music Show and Chart every Sunday from 4-6pm on Voice FM.
