Earthshot Prize's report details 51 solutions
Possibly one of the most exciting and uplifting climate reports the document "Positive Tipping Points: Accelerating system change to repair our planet" was published by the Earthshot Prize yesterday (September 10th 2016)
This report applies positive tipping point science across five Earthshots:
Protect and Restore Nature,
Clean Our Air,
Revive Our Oceans,
Build a Waste-Free World,
and Fix Our Climate.
It identifies 51 high-priority solution areas capable of triggering self-propelling, exponential environmental recovery.
Key priority levers include scaling clean electricity cascades, transforming commodity supply chains to eliminate deforestation, expanding marine protected areas, and deploying source-to-sea waste strategies.
Crossing these tipping thresholds requires three enabling conditions: making solutions affordable, accessible, and attractive, alongside closing the Global South investment gap.
It was authored by Dr Steven R. Smith (Tipping Points Impact Fellow) in the Green Futures Solutions team at the University of Exeter, in collaboration with The Earthshot Prize. The report also acknowledges foundational research contributions from Professor Tim Lenton and members of The Earthshot Prize team.
